I have 2 full-sized American flags that I can hang outdoors. This is one of them. I think I got it from a friend's estate. It has 13 stars on it, signifying the 13 colonies. It looks like it's 200+ years old.
The other flag is very current and has 50 stars.
I've always said...."Have space, will fill." All of us do it: fill up our cabinets/closets/stash stuff under beds, behind furniture, the top shelves of our cabinets (where nobody can get to them), etc.
So if we can't see the stuff, it doesn't exist.
I was very glad that our carriage house, housed all of the tools where Carl built stuff (half-models of boats/yachts that he designed, and a canoe which is still hanging from the rafters). We gave most of those tools/machines away. Son Evan continues to say he wants the canoe.
The primary item that I absolutely DO control, is his yacht designs.
Another yacht designer (a good friend of Carl's) needed a couple of his drawings, so he could assist one of their mutual clients.
Jim was able to make digital copies of all of their designs and drawings. I had wanted to do that for years. Now the cloud holds those designs.
When daughter, Sutter showed up from New Zealand about a year? ago, she continued with the 'clearing out' game. But it was focused on my stuff.
"Get rid of this...do you use this....what is this?" The trunk of my car still is organized and looks really good (to me). Thank you, Sutt!
I am blessed in so many ways. Carry on, kids!
